Its not just a random warning ! We have a study by University of Georgia to backup our statement. In a recent study sponsored by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and conducted by University of Georgia researchers ,found that the food produce contained bacteria would contaminate other produce items through the continued use of unwashed knives or graters .The study also found that certain fruit, vegetables,non vegetarian food like seafood, fish ,chicken etc. spread pathogens/bacteria like E.coli and salmonella if they are cut one after another with unwashed knives.

As said safety is always better than cure .Here are certain precautions you can take before chopping eatables :-

○Wash your hands very properly before cooking.

○Wash cutting boards as well as knives as they often carry harmful germs. Clean chopping board with hot water and dish soap instead of just wiping with a dishtowel.

○Use ceramic knives as they are popular for their hygienic qualities.

○Use different kitchen knife for each type of eatable. For example, a dirty knife that was used for cutting raw meat should not be used for ch other foods as this can lead to the spread of various microbes. Avoid using a meat knife for chopping fruits, vegetables or any other foodstuff.
